The Dual Struggle

Sonnet

The way of a brute and a god
In a pain-riddled shape of Matter:
My mind burns in hell as it leaps upward,
Traversing betwixt the hovering gods and the devil’s snare.

Twixt these shapes of night and day stands a shapeless miracle,
An avid syllable of a mighty Godhead, coursing
Through stronger minds of a single brooding soul,
The catalyst-god of a profounder change coming.

This and many more I have harboured in my suffering pit:
The luminous breath of God in my suffocating space:
In my weakness lies the illimitable puissance of God,
In my shadows the vast light of a greater transcendence.

The amorphous shall turn into Matter’s hyaline curve,
Thus revealing Matter’s own Sun at the dawn-hour and how!
