Thoughts About God

A poem I wrote in 2019 at the beginning of my spiritual awakening.

New beginnings tend to stir conflicting emotions at times.

New beginnings bring joy,

like the birth of a new family member,

but they equally bring sorrow,

such as the unexpected passing of a loved one.

New beginnings can bring an air of mystery or uncertainty.

We fear the unknown because we don’t know what will come our way.

A new beginning may bring the relief you never knew you needed.

New beginnings indicate the ending of an era.

Endings also bring memories,

but the newness of a journey unfulfilled

is always indescribable at best.

How do you find God?

What part of me holds the glory of God?

How do I call it forth?

Is God 100% me, or am I 100%, God?

Do I act in my own strength,

or is there an underlying force that works through me

to accomplish all I partake?

Am I not a divine entity if I direct the state of my mind to be?

Even Jesus knew that he wasn’t separate from God.

He mastered the concept of the mindset of Christ.

That is just it; to know God is to be conscious.

We are not less than God,

but how do you find that out if you’ve never been taught that?

How do you feed your soul

when no physical meal penetrates its insatiable hunger?

How do you soothe the groaning and growls that roar from the secret place of you that you’ve never explored?

How do you praise something you don’t see or understand?

Where is the glory in judgment and swaying other scripts to go your way, even the writers and teachers of the misaligned ‘ancient text’ killed many in the name of God?
